Paola Rescio Gallery. Only for Italian artists and curators

With the occasion of the closing date of its first double solo show Aspettand Lupin (Waiting for Lupin) – April 28 2011 – and with the occasion of the presentation of May and June 2011 calendar, Paola Rescio presents the mission of her new gallery few steps away from Corso Vercelli, the heart of Milan shopping area where many other art and design galleries are placed.
Paola Rescio Gallery is born in the space of a previous art atelier Ms Paola Rescio worked in before. Front-street oriented – shows can be seen also during the closing hours of the gallery – the space is located in a calm and cool street of artisanal workshops and shops, Via Rasori 8.

Paola Rescio Gallery will host only Italian artists with a strong focus on emerging names.

Paola Rescio’s mission is focused and is not a limitation to dig the visual art panorama. On the contrary, her aim is filling a gap by paying back attention to a growing number of young artists, coming from various and different disciplines, that has often problems to find adequate and pertinent exhibition spaces or dealers. Many of these artists are quite often pushed to abandon the country, Italy, at which at some point they return after having achieved major and more intense foreign experiences - especially in those countries where the art politics and the private strategies in the visual sphere (from funds to art residencies until short loans) express a more stable address than in Italy.

Paola Rescio Gallery also promotes those curatorial programmes that are out from the self-referenced market influence, choosing experts and Italian curators who make the mission of the gallery alive.

Paola Rescio, 38 years old, born and living in Milan, also painter and sculptor, says: “Art world is cynical and very far from reality. I want to give space and breath to young and the youngest artists, still unknown but full of talents, to widespread them not only in the visual art arena – collectors and art lovers – but also in the market of design, furniture, fashion, advertising, cinema: the aesthetical research in our everyday lives is even more transversal, interdisciplinary and meta-linguistic. I am aimed to work with any language and technique: painting, carving, mixed media, photography and, finally, design with limited edition or multiple works. Beside searching for a close collaboration with fine art academies and the other Italian learning system, the gallery will also host lectures, events and instant shows that will always be focused on arts and its young affiliates.
